Golf: Dukes down Bulldogs on road

Hawks, Comets, Clippers come close; Mustangs win triangular

The Dixon Dukes made the most of a long road trip to Streator on Tuesday, downing the Bulldogs 172-176 behind medalist Ryan Dixon’s 1-over-par 37.

Cord Schroeder shot 44, Cole Ruckman had a 45, and Jacob Bonnell added a 46 for the Dukes (9-2, 3-2 NIB-12 West) at Streator Country Club.

Burlington Central 166, Oregon 167, Harvard 170: The Hawks were just edged out in a tight Big Northern triangular at Oak Grove in Harvard.

Mitchell Nehrkorn paced Oregon (10-6, 9-4) with a 39. Carson Buck (40), Ben Gardner (44) and Justin Provo (44) also scored for the Hawks.

Riverdale 172, Newman 186, Rockridge 200: Newman’s Todd Nelson shot a 42 to share medalist honors with Riverdale’s Bentley Sweet in a triangular at Emerald Hill.

Shawn Rosengren had a 47, and Tucker Shoemaker added a 48 for the Comets.

Morrison 160, Kewanee 164, Bureau Valley 191: There was a three-way tie for medalist honors in a Three Rivers meet at Cross Creek in Morrison.

Morrison’s Noah Hogue and Nick Kaufman, and Kewanee’s Ryan Hansen each shot 3-over par 39.

Bureau Valley was led by Ryan Logan’s 42.

St. Bede 180, Amboy 182, Prophetstown 194: The Clippers finished second in a Three River triangular at Deer Valley.

Prophetstown was led by Grant Ames with a 41.

Lena-Winslow 169, Eastland 197, River Ridge 242: Logan Lessman shot a 43 as the Cougars finished second at triangular at Lake Carroll.

Shay Goellner added a 50 for Eastland (7-7, 7-6). Lena-Winslow’s Quinn Swole was medalist at 40.

Polo 187, West Carroll 187: The Marcos beat the Thunder via fifth-card playoff in a NUIC dual at Edgewood in Polo.

AFC’s Graye Freeman was the medalist with a 3-over-par, 39.

Polo (5-11, 4-8 NUIC) was led by Travis Vandrew with a 45. West Carroll (4-10, 2-8) was led by Cameron Ehlers with a 43.


Shearer leads Warriors: Sterling’s Sydney Shearer had a 59, as the Warriors did not have enough players for a team score in a triangular with Geneseo and LaSalle-Peru.

Geneseo won with a 179. LaSalle-Peru had 204. Geneseo’s Monica Lieving was medalist at 40.

Erie 196, Mid-County 197, West Central 229: The Cardinals won a Three Rivers crossover triangular at Oak Run in Dahinda, despite Mid-County medalist Lena Karjala’s 41.

Morgan Newton shot 46, and Katlyn Weber had a 47 for Erie. Lexi Floming (50) and Lindsey Tempelmann (53) also counted toward the Cardinals’ score.

Lena-Winslow 209, Eastland 218, Pearl City 250: The Cougars finished nine strokes behind the Panthers, but well ahead of Pearl City in a triangular at Coach’s Golf Course in Lena.

Karissa Freidag shot a 50 to pace the Cougars. Lena-Winslow’s Lexi Graf was medalist with a 41.
