27-year-old charged in Pontiac motel deaths
PONTIAC (AP) — A Livingston County man accused of killing his mother and brother is being held in the Peoria County jail because he needs constant medical care.
Authorities made the decision regarding 27-year-old Cody Hetherington of Pontiac. The Pantagraph in Bloomington reports (http://bit.ly/190L6u2) he needs 24-hour medical care for a severe head wound he suffered in an apparent suicide attempt.
Hetherington is charged with four counts of first-degree murder for the August deaths of 57-year-old Jean Ann Corrice and 23-year-old Tyler R. Friant. Their bodies were found in a Pontiac motel. Hetherington was arrested Tuesday, the same day he was released from a Springfield hospital. He'd been a patient there since the Aug. 20 shooting.
Livingston County officials say the Peoria jail has the needed medical facilities. Hetherington's bond is $300,000.
