Ralph Joseph Griesbach

STERLING – Ralph Joseph Griesbach, 93, a lifelong resident of Sterling, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn. He was employed as a sales professional for DeKalb Feed for 33 years, retiring in 1986.

Ralph was born May 22, 1920, in Mackville, Wis., the son of John A. and Anna (Bissing) Griesbach. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree. Ralph served in the Army Air Corps. He married Marianne V. (Van Abel) Griesbach on May 26, 1950, in Hollandtown, Wis.

Ralph was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. He was an avid golfer, and a member and past president of Rock River Country Club. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He and Marianne enjoyed wintering in Naples, Fla., for more than 20 years.

Survivors include a son, William John (Gloria) Griesbach of Lake Forest; two daughters, Lauri (Robert) Underkofler of Excelsior, Minn., and Margaret (William Kakish) Griesbach of Irvine, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Michael Thomas Underkofler, Brian Joseph Underkofler, Nicholas Ralph Griesbach, Jonathan Henry “Hank” Griesbach, and Sarah Rose (Michael) Scolaro.

He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers, and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Monday and the funeral at noon Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown, Wis.

A memorial has been established to St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling.
