DIXON – The state Department of Transportation is coming to the Sauk Valley to gather input and advice from residents and businesses on the development of its 2015-20 multimodal improvement program.

The informational and feedback session, one of many being held around the state, will run from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at IDOT’s District 2 headquarters, 819 Depot Ave.

Information also will be provided on the state’s first bicycle transportation plan. Go to for more details.

Multimodal transport systems consist of driving, transit, walking, bicycling, carpooling, and the like.

IDOT specifically is seeking comments in four areas:

n On the overall transportation system performance in this region;

n On regional transportation priorities that might affect the development of the next Multi-modal Transportation Improvement Pro-gram;

n On how to make bicycling a more effective mode of transportation for Illinois’ residents and visitors;

n On projects that should be considered for inclusion in the program.

IDOT also is seeking comments on how to improve the effectiveness of its public outreach efforts.

There will be no formal presentation, and members of the public can comment in writing at the session, or can mail them to IDOT District 2 Office, 819 Depot Ave, Dixon, IL 61021 by Oct. 14 for inclusion in the meeting record.

People with disabilities can ask for special assistance by calling Kevin Marchek, 815-284-5307, today.
