ROCK FALLS – William Reyes, 58, of Rock Falls, formerly of Sterling, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at his home, after a brief illness.
He was born May 7, 1955, in Sterling, a son of Mary (Moreno) and Gregory Reyes Sr. He worked for Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. for 30 years as a welder, and later at Brenny’s Motorcycle Shop in East Moline as a mechanic.
He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying. He had a love for remote-control models, especially boats, planes, and helicopters. He also enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles.
Surviving are his daughters, Anna (Mike McNamara) Islas of Sterling, and Suzanna (Justin) Simmer and Nicole Reyes, both of Rock Falls; his sons, William (Teresa) Reyes Jr. of Dallas and Scott (Caroline) Reyes of Dixon; his father, Gregory of Puerto Rico; his mother, Mary of Rock Falls; a sister, Elizabeth Eaglin of Granite City; two brothers, Gregory (Stephanie) Reyes Jr. of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Tony (Becky) Reyes of Dixon; 10 grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor Reyes Sr. and Steven Reyes; and his grandparents.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
