Boys roundup: Rock Falls golfers win invite

Andrew Tichler earned medalist honors to lead the Rock Falls golf team to top honors in the nine-team Princeton Invitational on Saturday at Chapel Hill Golf Course.

The Rockets finished with a team score of 321, nine fewer strokes than runner-up St. Bede. IVC (341), Mendota (350) and Princeton (351) rounded out the top five.

Tichler finished with a 4-over-par 76, the same score as IVC’s Jarom Hutson. Tichler won a playoff for medalist on the second hole.

Trace Hippen was a stroke back at 77 and finished third overall. Other counting scores for Rock Falls were Carrigan Chouinard’s 83 and Cooper Kilberg’s 85.

Bureau Valley was ninth at 408. Ryan Young paced the Storm with an 82, good for ninth place.

Buck leads Oregon in Mount Morris: Carson Buck finished second overall with a 77 to lead Oregon to second place in the 11-team Salley Wessels Invitational at Sunset Golf Course in Mount Morris.

The Hawks had a 327 team total, one behind champion Byron. Dixon (347), Lena-Winslow (355) and Forreston (357) rounded out the top five.

Dixon’s Ryan Dixon was fourth with 78. Newman’s Todd Nelson carded a 90.

The medalist was Harvard’s
Jeremy Coffman with a 3-over-par 75.

Sisson leads Warriors at
Freeport Invite: Trevor Sisson’s 4-over-par 76 led Sterling to a fourth-place finish at the 12-team Freeport Invitational at Park Hills Golf Course.

The Warriors had a 338 team total, behind Boylan (306), Hononegah (325) and DeKalb (335).

Clippers finish sixth at Rivderdale Invite: Amboy had a 352 team total to finish sixth in the Riverdale Invitational, held at Maple Bluff Golf Course in Geneseo. The top five squads were Macomb (320), Mercer County (339), Stockton (341), Riverdale (349) and Alleman (349).

Jake Lucas paced Amboy with an 85. The top area finishers were Koby Kuhnen of Erie and Devin Hartman of Eastland with 10-over-par 82s. The medalist was Stockton’s Trey Timpe with a 74.

Cross country

Thorpe leads Dukes in Peoria:
Simon Thorpe finished 14th among 566 runners at the 63-team Richard Spring
Invitational at Detweiller Park in Peoria.

Thorpe covered the 3-mile course in 14 minutes, 56 seconds.
The winner was O’Fallon’s
Patrick Perrier in 14:24.

Dixon finished 20th with 621 points. York won with 82.

Warriors fifth at Geneseo: Sterling finished with 479 points to take fifth in the 11-team Geneseo Invitational. The point total is accumulated by combining freshman, sophomore, junior and senior results.

Leading the way for the Golden Warriors were Jonathan Landis, who the freshman race in 17:01, and Cody Lund, who topped all sophomores with a time of 17:29.


Oregon 4, Indian Creek 1: Harry Baldwin and Ryan Bennett
each had a goal and an assist as the Hawks beat the visiting

Also for Oregon (5-6-2), Konner
Wilson and Trey Wilson each had goals, while John Donaldson and Juan Ocampo added assists.
Jordan Gilmour made four saves.
