Winners of arts festival announced

GRAND DETOUR – Award recipients of the Sept. 8 Grand Detour Arts Festival are:

Adult winners: Sydni Reubin of Dixon, Charles Kested Best of Show; Ken Reif of Berwyn, Best Oil Acrylic Painting; Naidine D’Angelo of Port Byron, Best Photography; Jude Gonzalez of Dixon, Best Jewelry; Rick and Rebecca Cortez of LaGrange, Best 3-D Art; Tamara Shriver of DeKalb, The Tradition Continues Award; and Stuart Roddy of Coleta, Grand Detour Arts Festival 65th Anniversary Award.

Student awards went to:

Kindergarten to third grade: Shayne Prodzenski of Paw Paw, first place; Brian Vazques, second, Abel Huerta, third, and Krystal Barajas, honorable mention, all of Rochelle; Ava Prior of Franklin Grove, honorable mention; and Elle Jarrett of Faith Christian School in Grand Detour, judge.

Fourth to sixth grade: Katherine Chrisham of St. Anne School in Dixon, first; Dylan Spencer of Franklin Grove, second; Allison O’Rourke, third, and Clareta Kern-Lyons, honorable mention, both of Amboy; Gabriel Nava of Rochelle, honorable mention; and Mary Thompson of Amboy, judge.

Seventh and eighth grade: Hanna Grady, first, and Mollie Ackert, second, both of Amboy; Caitlin Wilcox, third, and Cassidy Fairchild, honorable mention, both of Paw Paw; Alexis Guitierrez of Amboy, honorable mention; and Anthony Castaldo of Paw Paw, judge.

High school: Danielle Corcoran of Amboy, first; Nick Eckstrom of Paw Paw, second; Briahna Erbes of Amboy, third; Kaitlyn Essex and Casey Corcoran, honorable mention, both of Paw Paw; and Katie Cover of Faith Christian School, judge.

Kyler Bushman of Dixon won Best of Show.

Participating teachers were Nan Nelson of Rochelle, Geri Larson of Paw Paw, Becky Hage of Faith Christian School, and Deb Cleary of Amboy.
