POLO – Marcellene P. Jones, 73, joined the love of her life, Bob, on their eternal fishing trip Monday, Sept. 16, 2013.

She was born Oct. 21, 1939, in Polo, the daughter of Orville “Windy” and Marcella (Russell) Gilbert. She married Charles R. “Bob” Jones Sr. on April 4, 1955, in Grand Detour. They were married for 52 years before he passed away on Jan. 29, 2007.

Marcellene attended Faith Discovery Church in Polo, where she served with a ladies group at the church named The Spice Girls. She was an avid fan of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and attended numerous sporting events to cheer them on. She also enjoyed garage sales, meeting with her local hospice group, and Gilbert Girl Gatherings.

She is survived by her sons, Charles “Chuck” (Ann) Jones of Monroe Center and Michael “Mike” (Kim) Jones of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Stacy Jones and Brandon (Catie) Jones, both of Monroe Center, Shea (Kerry Howell) Jones of Bradenton, Fla., and Tayt Jones of Orlando; great-grandchildren, Drake, Logan, Lane, Braxton, and Mack; siblings, Kenneth Gilbert, Clifford “Butch” (Shirley) Gilbert, Esther Cox, Elma Haas, Edie (Tim) Singley, Viola Phillips, and LaVonne (Carroll) Taylor; special friend, Gloria; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Robert “Bobby” Jones; sisters, Opal Cruse, Arvilla Coy, and Leona Sanders; brother, Laverne Gilbert; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Gilbert.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon, with the Rev. Jeremy Heller, pastor of Faith Discovery Church, officiating. Burial will be at Daysville Cemetery in rural Oregon.

A memorial has been established to Faith Discovery Church in Polo.
