STERLING – John R. Brady, 66, of Sterling, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

John was born Feb. 1, 1947, in Kewanee, the son of John E. “Jack” and Esther (Stabler) Brady. He attended Prophetstown grade schools and graduated from Prophetstown High School. He then attended Western Illinois University in Macomb. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. He retired in 1999 from Commonwealth Edison Nuclear Plant in Cordova.

Survivors include one son, John M. (fiancée, Jamie Shierry) Brady of Sterling; one granddaughter, Brylee Brady; one sister, Janet (Buddy) Wagner of Georgetown, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, James W. Brady.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Jensen, associate pastor of Gateway Faith Fellowship in Fulton, officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown.

A memorial has been established.
