Trooper acts to protect kids

Published: Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 6:08 a.m. CST

On Sept. 13, we were returning from dinner in Dixon, driving on state Route 26, north of the river, shortly after 6. We happened to be behind a state trooper.

As we drove, I noticed two small children playing, carefree, very close to the road.  The trooper slowed and turned on his lights. He paused and spoke to the children, and they moved away from the street.

Acts such as this give one a sense of hope. I would go as far as to say, as a taxpaying citizen of Illinois, that I am more than willing to see to it that this “state worker” receives a pension.
