DIXON – Jury selection in the trial of a former Amboy man accused of sexually abusing two girls, then 10 and 12, is set to begin Monday at Lee County Courthouse.

Ignacio Sarabia, 50, faces nine counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, all class X felonies, which hold a sentencing range of 6 to 30 years.

Police say Sarabia abused the two girls multiple times between December 2008 and August 2009.

He was arrested at his DeKalb home without incident in July 2010 after a 2-month investigation completed by the Amboy and Rochelle police departments, the Lee County state’s attorney’s office, and the Shining Star Children’s Center.

Attorney for the defense, Andrew Bollman, said that about 50 witnesses are expected to testify during the trial.

Sarabia remains in Lee County Jail on $250,000 bond.
