Dimitrios J. Pappas

PERU – Dimitrios J. Pappas, 63, of 306 Seventh St., Peru, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.

Dimitrios was born June 6, 1950, in Ladihou, Greece, to John and Yanoola (Nickolpolo) Pappas. He married Donna Kent. He worked at Sunstrand and Woodhaven Lakes in the maintenance department. He served in the Greek Army, and became an American citizen on March 17, 1976. He was a member of First Baptist Church of LaSalle.

He is survived by his wife, Donna of Peru; two sons, Jason Pappas of North Carolina and A.J. (Michelle) Pappas of Peru; two daughters, Michelle Anderson of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Lisa (Michael) Baens of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Curtis, Christopher, and Lilly; and one sister, Elleni Antonaka of Greece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Vagelli and Panaioti Pappas.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today and the funeral at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of LaSalle, with the Revs. Wesley Waddle and Glenn Foster officiating. Burial will be at Peru City Cemetery. Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle is handling arrangements.
