It’s Showtime no more in Dixon

DIXON – A yellow sign from the Illinois Department of Revenue was attached to the front window of It’s Showtime, saying the shop’s license has been revoked.

The business owner didn’t pay taxes, said Susan Hofer, the department’s public information officer.

It’s Showtime, 114 S. Peoria Ave., was opened in December by business partners John Parsons and Andrew Kennedy and offered printing, recording, management, booking, sound and lighting services for musical performers, and also sold and traded jewelry.

The business failed to pay its sales or withholding taxes, or both, Hofer said, adding that the state affords a number of opportunities for businesses to make a good-faith effort to avoid being shut down.

It’s all a moot point, however, said owner Jim Gallentine at neighboring Mama Cimino’s Pizza, who also owns the building where It’s Showtime was located. They will be looking for a new business to move in there soon.

Twin City Cafe
changes owners again

STERLING – Twin City Cafe in downtown Sterling is under new ownership and will have new food, but the name, for now, will remain the same.

Aniceto Coronado, 42, of Sterling, started running the restaurant Sept. 2, and will serve Mexican food 7 days a week.

Coronado won’t change the name right now, but that may happen later, he said.

The restaurant will be open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Sunday, and from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Sterling dentist expanding to Rochelle

ROCHELLE – A Brush with Dentistry will open a Rochelle location in October.

After the new location opens, Dr. Shailee Patel will spend 3 and a half days at the Sterling location, 2308 E. Lincolnway, Suite D, and 1 and a half days at the Rochelle location, 409 Lincoln Highway.

The middle of October is being targeted, but the office hasn’t announced an exact opening date.

Patel is looking to partner with a dentist to take control of the Rochelle office, according to a statement.
