Volleyball: Comets claim TRAC road win

Hawks handle Stillman Valley; Erie outlasts Fulton

After splitting the first two sets of a Three Rivers North match Tuesday night in Port Byron, the Newman Comets outlasted the host Riverdale Rams 27-25 in the third set to pick up a road win.

Newman (5-4, 1-0) won the first set 25-14, then Riverdale took the second set 25-16.

Aubree Schmitt and Megan Rosengren spiked eight kills each, with Rosengren serving for seven points. Kaycee Howell (10 assists) and Allison Shipman (8 assists, 6 points) ran the offense, and Sara Nysather (7 digs) paced the back-row defense.

Bree deLong (7 points) and Julie Hurd (5 points) were also effective from the service line for the Comets.

Bureau Valley def. Amboy 25-21, 25-19: Madeline Ely had 14 assists, but the
Clippers couldn’t hold off the visiting Storm.

Hannah McCoy led Amboy (1-3, 0-2 Three Rivers) with five kills. Lindsey Hoffert had six kills for BV.

Oregon def. Stillman Valley
25-9, 25-16: Emy Wright had 10 kills, nine digs, four aces and two blocks as the Hawks routed the Cardinals in
Stillman Valley.

Also for Oregon, Delaney Mahoney had 24 assists and six digs, while Hailey Long added eight kills.

Erie def. Fulton 22-25, 25-23, 25-16: Peyton Rus had nine kills and nine digs for the Cardinals in a home win against the visiting Steamers.

Also for Erie, Savannah
Mettler had eight kills, Mary Chapman had 20 assists, and Courtney Cobert added 16 digs.

For Fulton, Betsy Leonard had 14 kills and two blocks, Chelsea Lesniewski had nine kills, Olivia Edfors had 14 assists, and Averi Leitzen added 18 digs.

Forreston def. Polo 25-3, 25-4: Abbey Osterloo had six kills for the Cardinals in a rout of the Marcos in Forreston.

Stockton def. Eastland 25-17, 26-24: Peyton Achs had five kills and three blocks for the Cougars in a home loss to the Blackhawks.

Also for Eastland (1-1, 0-1 NUIC Northwest), Bubby Doubler had seven digs, and Heather Larak added seven assists.

Aquin def. Milledgeville 25-14, 25-18: Haley McAuliffe had nine assists, eight digs and two kills for the Missiles in a in a loss to the Bulldogs.

Also for Milledgeville, Kailee Forbes had eight digs, three kills and two assists, while Emily Geison added seven digs and three kills.

College volleyball

IVCC def. Sauk 15-25, 25-15, 25-23, 18-25, 15-13: Kalli Scheppers had 19 kills, and Kayla Kurz added 15 kills and four blocks, but the Skyhawks
dropped an Arrowhead
Conference match at home.

Morgan Mammosser had eight kills and 21 digs, Brianna Correa added 23 digs, and Karly Koch set for 45 assists for Sauk (7-6, 1-1).
