Airmen complete basic training

Air Force Airmen Jeremy E. Sandlin Jr., Alisha L. Bass, and Courtney J. Hartsfield graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Sandlin is the son of Melinda Holverson of Washburn. He is a 2013 graduate of Dixon High School.

Bass, who earned distinction as an honor graduate, is the daughter of James Bass of Dixon and Andrea Latta of Port St. Lucie, Fla. She is a 2009 graduate of Dixon High School.

Hartsfield is the daughter of Brijitte Hartsfield of Lombard, and the granddaughter of Warren Jones of Sterling. She is a 2012 graduate of Glenbard East High School in Lombard.

Military retirees luncheon Oct. 26

ROCK ISLAND – A military retiree appreciation day will be Oct. 26 at Rock Island Arsenal, 226 17th St. Retirees from all branches of the armed forces and their family members are eligible to attend. The event begins at 7 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m.

Updated information about retiree entitlement programs will be available. Photo identification is required for all personnel to access the installation.
