Henry W. Gray

ROCK FALLS – Henry W. Gray, 88, of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at his home.

Henry was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Missouri, the son of Ralph and Effie (Quick) Gray. He married Fern I. Carlson on June 18, 1946, in Rock Falls. She died Dec. 5, 2011. Henry served in the Army during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was employed by Parrish-Alford in Rock Falls for 30 years. Henry was a member of Rock Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars and Rock Falls American Legion Post 902. He enjoyed going to auctions.

Survivors include one son, Jerry (Pat) Gray of Rock Falls; daughter, Annette Ellis of Mount Morris; one daughter-in-law, Sue Gray; one sister, Rita Wheaton; five brothers, Glenn Gray, Robert Gray, Earl Gray, Merle Gray, and John Gray; granddaughter, Robin Jackson, and her sons, Cody and Matthew; grandson, Troy Gray and his daughter, Addie; granddaughter, Kelly Gray; granddaughter, Kassy (Trent) Wallace and their son, Henry; grandson, Kory (Lindsey) Gray and their daughter, Mackenzie; grandson, Shannon Ellis and his son, Chester; and granddaughter, Ashley (Eli) Simms and their children, Owen, Finley, and Amelia.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Gray and Michael Gray; one brother, Art Gray; one sister, Shirley Gray; and one son-in-law, Llew.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday and the funeral at 10 a.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Michael Freeman, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.

A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
