AMBOY – Wanda M. Steder, 89, of Amboy, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center. 

She was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Brown County, Indiana, the daughter of Lewis and Alta (Galyan) Masters. Wanda married Karl Steder on April 18, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1987. Wanda worked at the Amboy Rug Factory, various grocery stores, including Beggs Foods, farmed, and had owned Wanda’s Sport Shop, all in Amboy, before retiring. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy, and a past member of the Amboy Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include two daughters, Geri (Richard) Riddick-Jones of Lebanon, Mo., and Sandra (Richard) Frey of Dixon; five grandchildren, Rick (Credence) Frey Jr., Roxy (Rich) Shaffer, Russell Frey, Andrea (Tim) Hamburg, and Bryan Riddick; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Sloter of Dixon and Annabelle (Leslie) Mobley of Bloomington, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Steder; four brothers; and one sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Carol Soderholm, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
