Salute to club for spreading petunia cheer

Published: Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

So many times in life we forget to stop and smell the roses – or in this case, consider the beautiful petunia flower baskets in our Dixon community.

For the past several years, I have enjoyed the blooming of our community and wanted to say thank you to the Rock River Garden Club for making a “floral” difference in our city – the Petunia Capital of the World. Sometimes we get so caught up in our day-to-day lives without much thought as to how it happens or who is behind it.

So, the next time you are walking down one of our streets or driving across the bridge, look up at the baskets, and think about the Garden Club’s great efforts that we all get to enjoy.

A special thank you to the Rock River Garden Club for all you do with your beautification of Dixon. It is appreciated – and enjoyed by thousands.

Note to readers: Vicky Turner is the Dixon Tourism president.
