It’s dangerous to let politicians decide on war

Published: Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

Let me see if I have this correct. We do not have direct, absolute proof that the IRS and the attorney general have done anything wrong in that mess. Hillary Clinton says that any investigation into Benghazi would be pointless. “What difference would it make?”

Now we are about to take military action against a nation that has done nothing to the United States. There is no proof, but we are expected to go to war based on President Obama’s “common sense.”

Syrian citizens are being slaughtered, and we must take action? Mexican citizens are being slaughtered by the drug cartels, but we can take no action to save thousands of people on our border.

War is too dangerous to leave in the hands of politicians.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
