Warriors earn home dual win

Ryan Hurley and Zach Rehmert each fired 4-over-par 40s to earn a piece of medalist honors and lead the Sterling boys golf team to a 166-181 victory over Alleman on Monday at Emerald Hill Golf Course.

The Pioneers’ Dalton Love also had a 40.

Dixon 173, Ottawa 180: Ryan Dixon carded a 4-over-par 40 to lead the Dukes past the Pirates at Timber Creek.

Cord Schroeder and Cole Ruckman added 43s for Dixon.

Rockets win triangular: Andrew Tichler’s 2-over-par 36 led Rock Falls (155) past Rockford Christian (171) and Genoa-Kingston (173) at Rock River Golf and Pool.

Cooper Kilberg had 39 for Rock Falls, while Trace Hippen and Aaron Frank added 40s.

Oregon 163, Stillman Valley 232: Taylor Brubaker paced a balanced lineup with a 3-over-par 39 as the Hawks beat the Cardinals at Silver Ridge.

Also for Oregon, Mitchell Nehrkorn had 40, Carson Buck had 41 and Ben Gardner added 43.

Steamers take 2nd: Matt Dail earned medalist honors with a 2-over-par 38 as Fulton (182) beat Orion (198) and lost to Riverdale (165) at Fulton Country Club.

Clippers finish 2nd: Griffin Kozeal carded a 38 as Amboy (176) topped Rockridge (191) and fell to Hall (170) at Spring Creek Golf Course in Spring Valley.

The medalist was the Red Devils’ Pete Mautino with a 2-over-par 37.

Lena-Winslow 161, West Carroll 170: Cameron Ehlers had a 39 for the Thunder in a loss to the Panthers at Palisades Golf Course.

Le-Win’s Logan Moothart was the medalist with a 4-over-par 37.

East Dubuque 181, Polo 188: Dylan Bushman and Matthew Handel each had 46s for the Marcos in a loss to the Warriors at Lacoma Red Golf Course.

Girls golf

Rock Falls 192, Genoa-Kingston 258: Four Rockets carded personal bests at Rock River Golf and Pool.

Kara Nehrkorn led Rock Falls (6-3) with a 44, while Liz Lego (45), Destiny Shumaker (55), Tess Schaefer (59) and Payton Law (64) all carded their lowest scores to date. Jessica Stickel rounded out the Rockets’ scoring with a 48.

Oregon 205, Stillman Valley 229: Abi and Ali Scheidecker each had 46s as the Hawks beat the Cardinals at Silver Ridge. Abby Martin added a 49 for Oregon.

Girls tennis

Sterling 5, DeKalb 0: Maura Scanlan and Erin Ansusinha won singles matches by identical 6-4, 6-4 scores as the Warriors beat the visiting Barbs.

Doubles victories were earned by the No. 1 team of Allie Shank and Grace Steinke; the No. 2 team of Charish O’Neil and Katie Schauff; and the No. 3 team of Sarah Trobaugh and Anna Ivarson.


Falcons win tourney: Faith Christian won four matches to take top honors in the Fulton Unity Tournament on Saturday.

The Falcons (10-1) topped Quad City Christian 25-23, 25-21; Tri-State 25-13, 27-25; Morning Star Academy 25-14, 25-14; and Fulton Unity 25-21, 25-12.

Tressa Schuler had 54 digs, 40 kills and 12 aces, while Sarah Smith added 26 kills and 18 digs.
