Cleanup of downtown Prophetstown begins Thursday after a devastating fire July 15 destroyed eight buildings. The city last month awarded a $207,306.23 bid to Fischer Excavating, of Freeport, to remove the rubble. The cleanup could take about 3 weeks, Mayor Steve Swanson has said.
