Dukes soccer scores, but falls
Rock Falls boys golf wins; Sauk volleyball spikes Sandburg

The Dixon Dukes boys soccer team snapped their scoreless streak at four matches on Wednesday, but still fell 2-1 on the road to Sycamore.
Reid Deets scored on an assist by Antonio Letnic-Hurtado with 6 minutes left in the first half. It tied the score at 1. Sycamore secured the win over Dixon (0-4-1) with a goal 30 minutes into the second half.
Rock Falls 154, Geneseo 158: There was three-way tie for medalist as the Rockets edged the Maples Leafs at Rock River.
Rock Falls’ Andrew Tichler and Matt Long, and Geneseo’s Kevin Womak all shot 4-over 38s to share medalist honors.
Cooper Kilberg and Trace Hippen each added 39s for the Rockets.
Rochelle 157, Oregon 164, North Boone 198: Carson Buck shot a 39 as the Hawks finished second in a triangular at Fairways in Rochelle.
Taylor Brubaker and Mitchell Nehrkorn added 40s for Oregon (4-3).
St. Bede 171, Erie 186, Orion 195: Erie’s Koby Kuhnen shot a 40 to earn medalist honors at Valley View Golf Course in Cambridge.
Brandon Heppner added a 43 for the Cardinals.
Princeton 169, Morrison 174, Rockridge 191: The Mustangs split with a pair of Three Rivers crossover teams, falling to the Tigers but beating the Rockets at Chapel Hill in Princeton.
Colton Smith (42), Ben Tegeler (43), Nick Kaufman (44) and Brock Smith (45) counted toward the team score for Morrison (5-2, 3-1). Princeton’s Zach Hicks was medalist with a 2-over-par 38.
Forreston 171, Eastland 193: The Cougars couldn’t match the Cardinals, who were led by medalist Tyler Newcomer’s 41, in an NUIC dual at Sunset in Mount Morris.
Devin Hartman and Logan Lessman paced Eastland (3-4, 3-4) with matching 45s.
Richmond-Burton 174, Rock Falls 195, Winnebago 247: Kara Nehrkorn shot a 42 and Jessica Stickel shot a 43 as the Rockets finished second in a Big Northern triangular at West Lake Village.
Liz Lego and Destinee Schumaker both added 55s to the Rockets’ score. Richmond-Burton’s Blake Betke was medalist with a 40.
Eastland wins quad in Lena: Kori Freidag’s 41 led all golfers as the Cougars won a four-team meet at Wolf Hollow.
Karissa Freidag added a 45 for Eastland, which shot a 189 to beat Le-Win (195), Erie (217) and Prophetstown (245).
Lexi Floming’s 49 led the Cardinals, while Breanna Sandrock’s 59 paced the Prophets.
Forreston def. West Carroll 29-27, 25-23: The Thunder fell in two tight sets to the host Cardinals in a NUIC battle.
Maggie Curry had 14 assists for Forreston (2-0).
Sauk Valley def. Sandburg 26-24, 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 17-15: The Skyhawks opened Arrowhead Conference play with a hard-fought win at home, as all five sets were decided by two points each.
Kalli Scheppers had 20 kills, while Kayla Kurz, Kristyn Kasner and Morgan Mammosser spiked nine kills apiece. Kurz added six blocks and Kasner stuffed three, while Mammoser served for 17 points for Sauk (5-3, 1-0).
Karly Koch dished 42 assists, while Presley Richardson (15 digs) and Brianna Correa (14 digs) led the defense.
