OREGON – A fire that destroyed a barn southwest of town appears to have been accidental, the Oregon fire chief said.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, Chief Don Heller said.
The barn at 3434 Butternut Road, owned by Todd Moser, was engulfed when Heller arrived just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. “It collapsed right after the first truck arrived,” he said.
The horses were outside, but a car, lawn mowers, and other equipment inside were destroyed.
Firefighters were on the scene until 11:30 p.m.
Mount Morris, Polo, Byron, Dixon Rural, and Franklin Grove fire personnel assisted Oregon.
