Annoyed about gasoline prices

Published: Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST • Updated: Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 8:42 a.m. CST

For the last 4 weeks, I have purchased gasoline in Dixon for anywhere from 15 cents to 34 cents a gallon cheaper than here in Sterling and Rock Falls. Why is gas cheaper in Dixon than here?

l went through Princeton and Walnut on Aug. 27, and both were cheaper than here. Why?

Two Sundays ago, I got gas in Dixon for $3.25; gas [in Rock Falls] was $3.59. On Aug. 25, I got it [at another Dixon station] for $3.29; gas here in town was $3.49.

This gas all comes from the same place. The only difference is the name on the tanker delivering it. Why is there such a price difference between towns? If Shell can sell it for $3.29 in Dixon, why not also here? Makes you wonder if someone is manipulating the prices.

You read in the paper where they say “shop locally.” When locally is jabbing it to me, I will go where it is cheaper and give someone else my tax money.
