Gabriela ‘Gabby’ Ferrel

ROCKFORD – Gabriela “Gabby” Ferrel, 35, of Rockford, formerly of Sterling, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.

She was born June 26, 1978, in Sterling, the daughter of Flavio Ferrel and Evangelina “Eva” Cantu.

Surviving are her mother of Rockford; her father of Colorado; sisters, Marisela Rodriguez of Rockford, and Dezeree Ferrel, Adriana Ferrel and Jasmine Ferrel, all of Colorado; brothers, Gabriel Ferrel and Marcello Ferrel, both of Colorado, and Collin Cantu of Rockford; her maternal grandmother, Maria Marquez of Arizona; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and her maternal grandfather.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Noel Ayala, pastor of First Hispanic Church of God, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.

A memorial has been established.
