PEORIA – David K. Parker, 64, of Peoria, passed away at 8:50 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Heartland Healthcare Center of Peoria.

David was born March 4, 1949, in Sterling, to Howard and Lillian “Liv” (Jacobs) Parker. He married Janet Barber on Sept. 27, 1969, in Lombard. She preceded him in death on Aug. 9, 2003, in Elkhart, Ind. He worked in logistics at Caterpillar for 36 years. He later worked for Mobile Medics, then for AMT and Wright & Salmon Mortuary. He was a member of the Bartonville American Legion and an usher at Corn Stock. He loved to fish.

David is survived by his mother of Sterling; four children, Julie (Charlie) Jackson of Peoria, Tim (Dorie) Parker of Creve Couer, Monica (Dawn) Parker Frakes of Peoria, and Nena (Steve) Clarke of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Eddie, Tim Jr., Rebecca, Jlynn, Kim (Justin), Kris, Kanon, and Kurtis; four great-grandchildren; one step-grandson, James (Brandi) Jackson; two brothers, Don (Paulette) Parker of Freeport and William (Lori) Parker of Rock Falls; and one sister, Sharon (Ken) Halver of Sterling.

He also was preceded in death by his father, uncles, and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary in Peoria. Visitation also will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at the mortuary, with the Rev. Carole Hoke and the Rev. Lauren Pagette officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.

Memorials may be made to CAT Chorus or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
