STERLING – Gladys Aschbrenner, 94, of Sterling, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home. She owned and operated Glads Boutique and Interior, and worked as a seamstress, making draperies and window coverings.

Gladys was born Sept. 9, 1918, in Merrill, Wis., the daughter of Fred and Louise (Kienbaum) Schulz. She married Edward Christ Aschbrenner on Nov. 19, 1938, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 2005. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Meyer of Milwaukee; one son, Roger (Pam) Aschbrenner of Sterling; one sister, Esther Gruling of Merrill; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; three sisters; and one son-in-law, Donald Meyer.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, and the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Daniel Behmlander officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Snow Hill Cemetery in Scott, Wis., with Robert Schneider officiating. McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Christ Lutheran School in Sterling and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls.
