Carol W. Thorngren

MOUNT MORRIS – Carol W. Thorngren, 91, of Mount Morris, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home in Mount Morris. She had taught sixth grade language arts in Byron.

Carol was born Feb. 9, 1922, in Whiteside County, near Coleta, the daughter of Oscar Fay and Gertie Mae (Jacobs) Peugh. She was a member of Disciples United Methodist Church in Mount Morris. 

Survivors include her husband, Roger; four children, Kris Thorngren of Nashville, Tenn.; Mark Thorngren of Camarillo, Calif.; Philip Thorngren of Rockford, and Andria Thorngren of Geneva; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Peugh of Sterling; and sister, Kathleen Marshall of Mount Morris.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday and the funeral at 2 p.m. Friday at Disciples United Methodist Church in Mount Morris, with the Rev. Dwight Stewart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Morris. Finch Funeral Home in Mount Morris is handling arrangements.

Memorials have been established to Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home and Disciples United Methodist Church.
