STERLING – Sign-up is on for the second annual Society of St. Vincent de Paul Friends of the Poor 5K Walk, to be held Sept. 28 at the Newman Central Catholic High School practice field.

Registration will be held from 8 to 9 a.m., and the walk from 9 to 11 a.m. at the school at 1101 W. 23rd St. in Sterling.

The walk raises money for the society’s food pantry and for the financial aid it provides to all members of the community in need.

Walkers younger than 18 need parental consent.

Donations also may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, to support its mission of caring for the poor. Make checks payable to St. Vincent de Paul Society Sterling/Rock Falls, and send them to the office.
