Oregon golf teams sweep

Sterling falls in boys golf, girls tennis

Oregon’s Taylor Brubaker and Carson Buck shared medalist honors on Monday by shooting 1-over-par 36s at Westlake Village in Winnebago.

The pair helped the Hawks to a 155-169 boys golf win over the host Indians in a Big Northern West match. Mitchell Nehrkron added a 41, while Ben Gardner and Justin Provo each shot 42 for the Hawks.

Rock Island 153, Sterling 162: Alec Aunan shot a 2-under-par 34 to lead the Rocks past the Golden Warriors at Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island.

Ryan Hurley’s 38 paced Sterling. The Warriors’ other scoring rounds included a 39 from Zach Rehmert, a 42 from Trevor Sisson and a 43 by Kyle Sinn.

Williamsfield 166, Bureau Valley 187: Logan Twidell shot a 42, but the Storm fell at Hidden Lake Country Club in Sheffield.

Williamsfield’s James Doubet was medalist with a 39.

Girls golf

Oregon 213, Winnebago 235: Abi Scheidecker shot a 43 at Westlake Village to lead the Hawks past the Indians.

Abby Martin carded a 52 and Ali Scheidecker added a 55 in the victory. Winnebago’s Kayla Wilson shot a 55.

Boys soccer

Burlington Central 8, Oregon 0: The Hawks had a rough start to the 2013 season in a non-conference loss to the Rockets at Oregon Park West.

Girls tennis

Guilford 4, Sterling 1: The Golden Warriors dropped their first match of the season at home.

Their lone win came at No. 2 doubles. The team of Allie Shank and Grace Steinke defeated Martina Perick and Emma Koyak 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
