FHN among top four safest list

FREEPORT – Consumer Reports magazine named FHN among the top four safest hospitals in the state.

FHN, a regional healthcare system based in Freeport, scored 64 out of 100. It is ranked in the top 6 percent of hospitals, according to the independent, nonprofit, testing organization’s August issue.

Safety, bloodstream infections, readmissions, drug information, and adverse events in surgery were considered.

Rockford Memorial and SwedishAmerican hospitals, and OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, all in Rockford, received scores of 47-50. CGH Medical Center in Sterling and KSB Hospital in Dixon were not rated.
