ROCK FALLS – Rock River Open Forum will sponsor a free discussion about on-farm composting and sustainability at 6 p.m. Thursday at Rock Falls Public Library, 1007 Seventh Ave.

Alan Dale, a farmer near Walnut who owns and operates Rare Earth Diversified Systems, will lead the discussion.

The company sells compost, which Dale also uses on his 2,500-acre grain farm.

Dale will show slides of his operation and discuss his 15 years in composting.

Representatives of Pfundstein Farms, a beef operation near Sterling, will talk about composting manure and bedding.

Find Rock River Open Forum on Facebook for more information.
