Volunteers needed at animal shelter

ROCK FALLS – Happy Tails Animal Shelter is looking for people to volunteer 2 hours a week at the facility, at 1408 McNeil Road.

At this time the shelter averages about two volunteers a day to care for about 85 animals,

The shelter takes in only the number of animals that can be cared for, which means that no more animals can be taken in after that point.

Volunteer hours are from 8 a.m. to noon, 7 days a week, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, and 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursdays. Call 815-626-2994 for more information.

Pond fish for sale in Rochelle

ROCHELLE – The Rochelle Wildlife Conservation Club is selling fish for pond stocking.

Available in a variety of sizes are channel catfish, hybrid sunfish, fathead minnow, sterile grass-eating carp, hybrid redear, redear sunfish, largemouth bass, bluegill, and black crappie.

Pete Reiff with Logan Hollow Fish Farm will provide the fish. Orders for carp must be placed by Sept. 9, and for all other fish by Sept. 16.
