Thankful for article on walkway Joan Johnson Tampico

Published: Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

Thank you for the nice article regarding reaching our goal to place a statue of Ronald Reagan as a young boy in Reagan Park, Tampico.

We are very proud of the early beginnings of the only president born in Illinois. We are pleased that through this article, many more folks are learning of the Memorial Walkway to the statue and are ordering bricks and pavers.

We hope to have the dedication ceremony yet this fall, and thank you for your help in getting the word out.

Note to readers: Joan Johnson is president of the Tampico Historical Society and volunteer coordinator of the Ronald Reagan Birthplace.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
