STERLING – Lawrence A. “Larry” Filippi, 70, of Sterling, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
He was born Oct. 23, 1942, in Sterling, the son of August L. Louise Agnes (Cedro) Filippi. He married Brenda K. Rummell on Sept. 5, 1964, in Sterling. Larry worked at the former Gear Corp., in Sterling, and then he worked at Illinois Forge in Rock Falls for 30 years until retiring. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and had served as an usher for 25 years. He was a member of the Studebaker Club and Sterling Family Moose.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; his daughter, Brigitte (Doug) Willett of Sterling; his son, Rocco (Cheri) Filippi of Sterling; his sister, Linda (James) Hansen of Naples, Fla.; five grandchildren, Kirsten, Arianna, Gabrielle, Jocelyn, and Rhiannon; and one great- grandchild, Kael.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Adalberto Sanchez, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
