Lynn Asp, proprietor of the H.I. Lincoln Building in Franklin Grove, presents a plaque to Carol Kelley, wife of the late Jack Kelley, and other members of his family during a ceremony Monday afternoon at Chaplin Creek Historic Site. Kelley, who died earlier this year, was a key figure in the preservation of historic Franklin Grove. One of his proudest accomplishments was the building of the gazebo at the historic site. The plaque was donated by the regulars of the "coffee contingent" who gather at the Lincoln building every morning and recognizes Kelley, who built the gazebo in memory of his parents.
