Paraprofessional union vote to come Tuesday

DIXON – The school board will have to wait to vote on a tentative agreement it reached last week with its paraprofessionals’ union.

Members of the Dixon Educational Support Personnel Association were expected to ratify the agreement this week, but rescheduled their vote for Tuesday.

The union has asked for more time to review the agreement because union President Mindy Donoho had an emergency and was called away from the last negotiating session.

Once the union votes, the school board will call a special meeting soon after to approve it, Superintendent Michael Juenger said.

The district will share details of the contract after DESPA ratifies it, he said.

The union represents 48 full- and 16 part-time paraprofessionals, which are teachers aides and assistants.

Paraprofessionals worked all of last year without a contract and asked for mediation about 2 months ago. They continue to work.
