STERLING – A Sterling man was in Whiteside County Jail on $60,000 bond Wednesday after police said they found 69 marijuana plants growing upstairs at his home in the 1400 block of Third Avenue.

Robert H. Grikmanis, 46, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and charged with unlawful production of 50 to 200 marijuana plants, which carries 3 to 7 years in prison.

More charges may be filed pending results of an analysis of additional types of evidence sent to the Illinois State Crime Lab, Sgt. Steve Hubbard said.
