Vendor ‘quarter auction’ event set for Friday at Ginko Tree Cafe

DIXON – A Quarter Mania auction will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at Traditional Wellness Center/Gingko Tree Cafe, 216 W. First St.

A cross between an auction, a raffle and a home party, the 2-hour event will auction new and discontinued items from local vendors at a cost of one to four quarters per item.

There also will be cash-and-carry items, concessions, and a 50/50 raffle to benefit Home of Hope Cancer Wellness Center.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. Each item up for bid will be on display. The auctioneer will give a brief description, the item’s retail value, and how many quarters you will need to bid.

Guests will give their bid (quarters) and hold up their numbered paddles. Those who have more than one paddle must place a bid for each one.

When all bids are collected, the auctioneer will draw a numbered chip from a container. If the number on the paddle matches the number on the chip, the guest wins that item.

If a matching numbered paddle is not held up, the auctioneer will draw until there is a winner. Then all chips will be put back in the container and the next item will be auctioned.

Vendors on hand will be Tastefully Simple, TWC Massage, Tupperware, Miche, Thieving Hearts Photography, Genesis PURE, Passion Parties, Origami Owl, Thirty-One Gifts, It Works!, Paparrazi Jewelry, Gold Canyon, and Dove Chocolate Discoveries.

Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
