Park district announces fall schedule

ROCK FALLS – Coloma Park District, 510 E. 11th St., has released it fall schedule.

Youth Bowling Instruction: This class teaches youngsters age 6-13 the fundamentals of bowling. The cost is $22 and includes shoe rental, bowling and lessons. Loren Wolf is the instructor.

The 8-week program will run from 4 to 5 p.m. Fridays from Sept. 27 through Nov. 15 at Paone’s Blackhawk Lanes, 2325 E. Lincolnway, Sterling. For more information, call Wolf at 815-625-0771. There will be a limit of 16 bowlers.

Saturday Morning Girls Skill Programs: Activities include cheerleading, gymnastics, dance, and fitness team instruction for girls in first through eighth grade. The groups will meet for 6 weeks starting Sept. 21 in the gym at Merrill School, 600 Fourth Ave. Cheerleading and gymnastics will meet from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The cost is $23. Future dancers and fitness athletes will meet from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $18.

Co-recreational Volleyball: Teams will be selected each night from individuals attending each session.

Recreational activity rather than competition is stressed. Hank Sobottka will be the supervisor. 

Participants 18 and older are welcome on Monday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17 through Dec. 3 at Merrill School. The cost is $2 each night.

Finish a Basket Day:. Anyone with an unfinished basket project is welcome to bring it and tools to this adult workshop from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Little Red Schoolhouse.

Debi Burke will be the instructor. The cost is $10.

Co-ed Church Slowpitch Softball League: Eight co-ed church teams will compete in a round- robin schedule under the lights at Centennial Park. 

One IHSA registered official and one neutral team official will be provided for each game.

The 18 and older league will be Tuesday nights Sept. 17 through Oct. 29.

The cost is $175 per team.

Men’s Slowpitch Soft ball League: Eight mens teams, 18 and older, will play Sept. 12 through Oct. 24 at Centennial Park.  The cost is $175 per team.

Basketball League: Participants play four-on- four half-court basketball.  Each team will play three games per Sunday for 8 weeks starting Oct. 27.

Men’s Open will play at 1 and 2:30 p.m.; Men’s 30 and Older, 4 p.m.; Men’s 40 and Older, 5:30 p.m.; and Women’s Open at 7 p.m. in the gym at Rock Falls Middle School, 1701 12th Ave. The cost is $20 each.
