COLETA – Judith A. “Judy” Betz, 66, of Coleta, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

She was born Aug. 30, 1946, in Peoria, to Elaine (Calhoun) and Breck Nelson. She married Larry Betz on Nov. 6, 1994, in Peoria, and moved from Peoria to Larry’s home in Coleta.  

Judy was the co-owner of Archery Den Pro Shop west of Coleta, and was the manager of Sally’s Beauty Supply until 2011. Judy had a joy for life and always put her family and friends first. To know her was to love her.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; one daughter, Krista Bally, and one son, Jason Bally, both of Peoria; one sister, Victoria (James) Kuzel of Tucson, Ariz.; stepchildren, Rowdy (Maggie) Betz and Rhonda (Tim) Granzow; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.  

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday and the memorial service at 4 p.m. Saturday at Schilling Funeral Home, 702 First Ave., Sterling. After the service, there will be a celebration of Judy’s life at Milledgeville Men’s Club, 204 N. Main Ave., Milledgeville.  

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
