MOUNT CARROLL – Gene A. Moshure, 72, of Mount Carroll, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at his home.

He was born Nov. 10, 1940, in Chicago, the son of Richard and Ella (Hovorka) Moshure. Gene was a 1958 graduate of Mount Carroll High School. He married Judy McDearmon in 1950, in Mount Carroll. Gene was employed by the Illinois Department of Conservation, retiring in 1998. He was a former member of the Mount Carroll Lions Club and Savanna Moose Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and all outdoor activities. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and working on his farm. 

Gene is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Bruce Rogers); son, John (Michelle); two granddaughters, Chloe and Tori, both of Mount Carroll; and one sister, Vivian Rycus of Portland, Oregon.

He was preceded by his wife, Judy; his parents; and two brothers, Ralph and Rayfield. 

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday and the funeral at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Mount Carroll, with the Rev. Floyd West officiating.

A memorial has been established.
