School curriculum initiative talk Aug. 27

DIXON – A school curriculum program adopted in 45 states, including Illinois, will be discussed at the next Sauk Valley Tea Party meeting, at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Loveland Community House, 513 W. Second St.

Heidi Holan of will speak about the initiative. All are invited.

According to its website: “The Common Core State Standards Initiative is a state-led effort that established a single set of clear educational standards for kindergarten through 12th grade in English language arts and mathematics that states voluntarily adopt.

“The standards are designed to ensure that students graduating from high school are prepared to enter credit bearing entry courses in two or four year college programs or enter the workforce.

“The standards are clear and concise to ensure that parents, teachers, and students have a clear understanding of the expectations in reading, writing, speaking and listening, language and mathematics in school.”

According to its website, ParentalRights.Org’s mission “is to protect children by empowering parents through adoption of the Parental Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and by preventing U.S. ratification of UN Conventions that threaten parental rights.”
