Harold L. Harmon

AMBOY – Harold L. Harmon, 65, of Amboy, formerly of Oregon, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at his home. 

He was born May 15, 1948, in Oregon, the son of Harold L. and Zada B. (Ware) Harmon. He was a veteran of the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Crest Foods in Ashton for 16 years, retiring in 2013.

Survivors include his mother of Mount Morris; four sisters, Alice A. (Leroy) Dukes of Amboy, Delores White of Ashton, Zada B. (Gary) Bailey of Mount Morris, and Cathy L. (Bill) Bemus of Jackson, Miss.; two brothers, Jamie “Hawk” Harmon of Rockford and Charles R. Harmon of Elgin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Jack N. Hitchcock; one brother, George R. Harmon; and his half brother, Jack Hitchcock Jr. in infancy.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 7 at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy, with the Rev. Jamie T. “Hawk” Harmon officiating. Graveside services, with military honors accorded by the Amboy American Legion Post, will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Sublette. Refreshments will follow at the home of Leroy and Alice Dukes, 303 Gilson Ave., Amboy. 

Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society and Serenity Hospice & Home.
