ROCK FALLS – A benefit is being planned to help cover funeral expenses for Dinah Attebury, the 12-year-old Rock Falls girl who died Monday night from injuries received in a go-cart accident.
The benefit will be held Oct. 27 at Cochran’s Pub in Sterling.
Family friend Christal Rascoe said Wednesday that organizers are waiting until after Dinah’s funeral to hold an official meeting, but preliminary plans include an auction and possibly a bags tournament.
Brian Jensen, another event organizer and friend of the family, will donate sports clothes from his online retail business. Organizers are also in the process of making T-shirts and stickers.
Any money raised not used for funeral expenses will go toward a memorial bench to be installed near Dinah’s headstone at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Sterling.
Dinah, a PLT Middle School student, was the daughter of Ryan Joe Attebury and Marie Ann (Willman) Attebury, both of Rock Falls.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls; her funeral is 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Rascoe started a memorial Facebook page called “In Memory of Dinah Attebury;” updates will be posted there.
