AMBOY – Evelyn “Effie” Dorene Sensenig, 72, of Amboy, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 15, 1940, in Amboy, the daughter of Herman and Pauline (Wagner) Reubin Sr. Effie married Elmer J. “Rocky” Sensenig on Dec. 15, 1958, in Amboy. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2001.
She was a certified nurses aide for 27 years, working at KSB Hospital, Amboy Hospital, and Mapleside Manor before retiring. She was a member of United First Church in Amboy and the Amboy Flamettes.
Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Sensenig of Dixon and Tammy (Jeff) Bryant of Amboy; daughter-in-law, Betty Sensenig of Dixon; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five brothers, James Reubin of Dixon, Donald (Sue) Reubin and Ronald Reubin, both of Texas, John Reubin of California, and David Reubin of Amboy; two sisters, Carol (Jim) DeGeorge of Colorado and Kathryn (Brian) Whittaker of Belleville; and a sister-in-law, Judy Reubin of Dixon.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Robert R. Sensenig; and one brother, Herman Reubin.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at United First Church in Amboy, with the Rev. Charles Jeanblanc, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center.
A memorial has been established to the Amboy Fire Department and the Child Safety House.
