Culinary expert returns to share seasonal recipes

Tickets on sale for popular cooking show

Taste of Home Cooking School culinary specialist Guy Klinzing brings his entertaining and informative show to this year's Taste of Home event Sept. 10 at Centennial Auditorium in Sterling.

STERLING – The perfect recipe for creating new memories with loved ones includes good friends, good conversation and, of course, great food.

As home cooks across the country head back to the kitchen to cook up fall’s comforting favorites, the Taste of Home Cooking School is preparing to share seasonal recipes that are certain to delight.

Taste of Home’s local culinary specialist Guy Klinzing will return to Centennial Auditorium on Sept. 10 to share his home cooking tips and tricks while demonstrating step-by-step recipes for the season’s best dishes. He also conducted the show in 2010.

“The Sauk Valley has not had one of these shows since 2010, and we are so happy to be back on the Taste of Home schedule,” said Ed Bushman, show organizer.

“Guy Klinzing is a true professional and puts on a fantastic show. Those who attended the 2010 show even got to hear a song or two from Guy. I can honestly say there is no other cooking school in the area that offers as much culinary knowledge and entertainment value as this does,” Bushman said.

This local show is being brought back by Sauk Valley Media, along with local sponsors, including County Market, Clover Hills Appliances and Wheelock Furniture.

The Taste of Home Cooking School is recognized as America’s leading cooking school program, inspiring more than 300,000 passionate home chefs at hundreds of events nationwide.

Attendees will see recipe demonstrations using ingredients that are easily found at the local grocery store and involving dishes submitted by home cooks from across the country.

“From experienced home chefs to beginners learning their way around the kitchen, the Taste of Home Cooking School offers something for everyone – putting a fresh spin on old favorites and adding new recipes to your seasonal repertoire,” Klinzing said.

“Spinach-stuffed chicken pockets is one of the recipes that will be demonstrated at the show. With their creamy filling and delightful crispy crust, these elegant entrées are easy enough for weeknights, yet special enough for company, too.”

Attendees will receive a gift bag that includes Taste of Home Cooking School magazine. The 68-page special issue includes recipes featured during the program, along with many more, as well as coupons from participating national food companies.

Attendees can also enter for a chance to win door prizes, including the recipes created on stage that night.

Tickets cost $10 and are available at Sauk Valley Media in Sterling, 3200 E. Lincolnway, or the Telegraph in Dixon, 113 S. Peoria Ave.
