STERLING – Alice L. Davis, 90, of Sterling, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Sterling Pavilion.

Alice was born May 28, 1923, in Sterling, the daughter of James and Anna (Wessels) Burns. She married Leland R. Davis on Jan. 30, 1945, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling.  

Alice was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and later was Sunday school superintendent, as well as a women’s missionary officer. She also enjoyed singing with the church choir. Alice served as president and secretary of Sterling Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Barbara J. Johnson of Sterling and Diana L. (Dan) Mallie of New Boston; a son, Timothy L. (Gayle) Davis of Streator; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday and the service at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Mark Oehlert, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established to the St. John music department and Sunday school program.
