Letters to the Editor

Support of music program appreciated

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors, donors, participants, volunteers, and supporters of the 13th annual Music in Motion 5K run/walk on Aug. 3.

The money raised goes directly toward the purchase of orchestra instruments and supplies, which are provided to students who otherwise would be unable to participate due to financial constraints. With the running of this year’s event, we now have over the years raised a total close to $18,000 for the orchestra program through this event alone.

We have many people to thank including: Sauk Valley Media, Compliance Signs, CGH Medical Center, Griggs Music, KSB Hospital, State Farm/Jack Spencer, Dukelow Foot Clinic, Illinois American Water, The Loop Barbershop, The Medicine Shoppe, Ferris Dentistry, McCormick’s, Edward Jones/Jim McPherson, Arthur’s Deli, Sterling Public Schools, Sterling Park District, Parkway Restaurant, CGH Ambulatory Services, Schuldt Entertainment, Octopus Car Wash, Mead’s Bike Shop, and the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office.

Also, thank you to our many friends and family who contributed financially and personally to its success. Join us for the 14th running Aug. 2, 2014.

Note to readers: Barb Lauff is the orchestra director at Sterling Public Schools.
