DIXON – Sherry S. Koechig, 63, of Dixon, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Her positive attitude, unwavering perseverance, and steadfast dignity in the face of this devastating disease was an inspiration to her family and friends.

Sherry was born June 15, 1950, in Dixon, to Floyd and Hazel (Byers) Fox. She was a lifelong resident of Dixon. She worked several years for, and retired from, the state of Illinois Department of Corrections, Dixon facility.

Sherry is survived by her son, Thomas Koechig of Palatine; her brother, James Fox of Freeport; and her close circle of special friends, Mary Burgess, Mary Lou Burkardt, Jane Chambers, Mary Cleaver, Sherry Frey, and Sandy Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial of cremains will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Jones Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established in Sherry’s name at Serenity Hospice & Home, 1658 state Route 2 South, Oregon, IL 61061.
